How We Create and Print Our Designs
Design & AI Transparency
At S & K Collective, transparency matters.
In the early stages of my business, I experimented with AI-generated design tools as part of the creative process. A small number of those earlier designs may still remain on the website.
However, as conversations around the ethical and environmental concerns of AI have evolved, I’ve made the decision to no longer use AI to create designs for this brand.
Today, almost all designs available on this website are:
• Created and designed by me
• Hand-drawn and illustrated by me
• Or purchased/licensed directly from independent designers with full rights for commercial use
All Indigenous artwork featured on this site is drawn and created by me personally.
S & K Collective is committed to supporting real artists, honoring creative ownership, and ensuring that the work you purchase is made with intention and integrity.
What is DTF Printing?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is a high-quality printing method that transfers full-color designs onto fabric using a specialized film and adhesive process. This technique allows for vibrant, durable prints with excellent detail, making it ideal for custom apparel.
How Does It Feel?
When you first receive your DTF-printed item, the design may feel slightly thicker or have a "plasticky" texture. This is normal! After a few washes, the print softens and integrates more naturally into the fabric, creating a more flexible, comfortable feel. Unlike screen printing or vinyl, DTF prints have a smooth finish that stretches with the fabric without cracking or peeling.
Who Else Uses DTF Printing?
Many major brands and retailers use DTF technology because of its versatility, durability, and ability to print highly detailed images. Companies like **Nike, Adidas, Champion, and H&M** incorporate DTF or similar heat transfer technologies to create long-lasting, vibrant designs on their apparel.
By choosing DTF-printed products, you're getting a high-quality, long-lasting design that holds up wash after wash while allowing for intricate details and bold colors that other methods can't always achieve.
